This Quick and Easy Vegan Parmesan is a great and delicious homemade alternative for all those recipes calling for parmesan cheese.

VEGAN PARMESAN CHEESE

I’ve tried several recipes and commercial products during all these years of being vegan. Still, I’m always coming back to this personal recipe.

Using hemp seeds to make vegan parmesan cheese is not a concept I came up with. In fact, I love a commercial product that includes them. However, sometimes it is not easy to find in nearby stores or is just more convenient to make at home, so that is the way I create this easy recipe.

HOW TO PREPARE THIS VEGAN PARMESAN CHEESE

This recipe only needs three ingredients and is so easy to make.

It’s also Gluten-Free, Nut-Free, Oil-free, and delicious.

This vegan parmesan cheese alternative is excellent for sprinkling pasta, salads, soups, rice, and more. And even though it is not technically cheese, it covers its flavor and most regular uses, less the melting property.

It’s excellent for boosting the flavor of your meals and the nutrition.

INGREDIENTS NOTES

For the preparation, you’ll need:

  • Hemp Seeds: Shelled, also called Hemp Hearts, beyond being so nutritious (rich in protein, fiber, omega-3s and omega-6s, and more), these seeds provide this parmesan cheese with the right texture and nutty flavor.
  • Nutritional yeast: one of my best friends in my vegan kitchen! This ingredient gives that cheese flavor, helps with the color, and provides extra nutrients (B vitamins).
  • Garlic Salt: I love this salt; it gives so much flavor in one step. However, if you are avoiding salt, you could use garlic and onion powder instead of any herb seasoning you have or like.

DIRECTIONS

To prepare this vegan parmesan cheese, you must mix all the ingredients. You can mix it in a bowl or use a food processor if you prefer a powdery texture (don’t overmix or pulse until you obtain the texture you are looking for).

And before using it or storing it, you should taste it and adjust the flavors, if needed.

Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 Food processor optional

Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup hemp hearts
  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast
  • ½ tsp garlic salt

Instructions
 

  • Stir all the ingredients together in a bowl until they are all well combined*.
  • Before storing or using it, taste it and adjust the flavors and quantities if needed.
  • Keep it on an airtight container in the refrigerator, for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • *You can also pulse the ingredients together in a food processor if you like a powdery texture (don’t overmix, pulse until you obtain the texture you are looking for).
  • If you are avoiding salt for any reason, you could use garlic and onion powder instead of any herb seasoning you have or like.
