This Easy Date Caramel Sauce is quick to prepare and ideal as a dip or topping for your healthy treats.
The sauce is super sweet, and even though it is not the traditional caramel recipe, it resembles one in taste. It’s so delicious!
My kids (and this mom) love this sauce with apple slices or spread in toasts as snacks.
HOW TO PREPARE THIS EASY DATE CARAMEL SAUCE
This recipe cannot be easier; you need only three ingredients! Blend, and enjoy.
I realized about this mix of flavors by preparing my Vegan Banana Whole Wheat Muffins. When I tried it, I noticed that the combination between Medjool dates, plant-based milk, and vanilla extract created that caramel flavor.
This sauce is a healthier but flavorful option to more traditional caramel recipes that can be eaten as is or added to your favorite treats and desserts: pancakes, crepes, waffles, ice creams, slices of bread, and more!
For the preparation, you’ll need:
- Medjool dates: these are the star of the recipe. I love them for their sugary and caramel flavor.
- Canned Coconut milk lite or light: to help with the creaminess without adding too much fat. You can also use any other plant-based milk if you don’t like or can’t use coconut milk. The texture changes a little bit, but it works well for the purpose of this sauce.
- Vanilla extract: to enhance the flavor.
- Pinch of salt: optional.
To prepare this easy date caramel soak the dates in hot water for 15 to 20 minutes, to make them softer.
Drain them and then blend all the ingredients until smooth.
And enjoy your sweet, healthy treat!
And that’s it!
