Cuisine Gluten-Free, Vegan
- 3 cups mangoes frozen
- ½ cup orange juice
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 2 tbsp maple or date syrup Optional, if the mangoes are not sweet enough
Prepare a freezer-safe dish for the sorbet (if you plan to freeze the sorbet for a firmer consistency). I use Silicone Bread and Loaf Pans.
Add all ingredients to a blender or food processor; blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides with a spatula as needed.
At this point, you can enjoy it right away for a softer texture. Alternatively, you can freeze the sorbet transferring it into a freezer-safe dish, and place it in the freezer for 2-3 hours (or until firm).
Remove from freezer 15 minutes before serving.
Serve and enjoy it!
• You can buy frozen mangoes (like I did) or do it yourself; Peel about 3 mangoes, remove the pits, and dice them. Lay the pieces over a lined rimmed baking sheet, and freeze them for about 3-4 hours.
• You can keep the sorbet in the freezer for up to 2 weeks (I am not so lucky for keeping it for that long, my family makes it disappear quickly!)
• The Maple or Date Syrup as an ingredient is totally optional since Mangoes are super sweet in general. However, sometimes we’ve bought some that are not sweet enough, so the option of adding some Maple or Date syrup works well with the rest of the flavors.
